Rushing Through a Chocolate Truffle Cake

Yesterday was Jill's birthday and I had the best intentions in the world to make a beautiful cake for her, but I have been juggling too many things at once and it just didn't come out as I had envisioned it. A bit sloppy, but full of good wishes.

I wish I could share more photos. Soon. Happy Birthday Jill!

Maybe it didn't come out as the best cake around but those spoons look so appetizing that I had to remember I'm on diet.

Happy Bday Jill!

I'm sure it was still tasty! I have found that it's often the sloppiest cakes that taste the best... but it probably has to do with all the love the baker put into them :)

Mmmm but with a spoon as chocolaty and delicious looking as that I'm sure it tasted great!!
I had a similar incident with chocolate cake on monday...there were tears, but I still posted a picture at http://thisisgingerrose.blogspot.com.

Oh I would just take the batter right off the spoon and place a birthday candle right in the middle of it! It is the wishes for a great birthday and big sparkly smiles that matter for a birthday. Hope it was great for Jill.

Also, where did you learn photography? It always takes my breath away. Any pointers/books/websites I would be so grateful if you could offer any.

Happy birthday Jill!
Las cucharitas rechupeteadas nos dien que estaba bien rico. Son las 7 menos cuarto y yo también he chupado la cuchara de la izquierda en la pantalla. Delicioso. Y la foto muy significativa.

I am sure the cake tasted delicious!

That looks like the perfect anecdote to all the meat cooking I've been doing at school (I'm a culinary school student).

And, of course, the cook gets to lick the spoon!

Hey, it's chocolate! Who really cares how sloppy it looks? Throw on some fresh whipped cream and berries and everyone is happy.

Thank you, the Rhubarb and vanilla tart recipe was awesome and a became a great jumping off point for a whole menu. I've trained as a chef and as an artist and last week opened a temporary fine-dining restaurant in an art gallery in Devon, England. The tart featured on the menu minus the crumble topping, too much after 6 prior courses i felt, and was loved by all.
P.S. Love the blog, the pictures are always graceful, beautiful.
